Geography of Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago also officially known as the republic of Trinidad and Tobago are the southernmost of the West Indian Islands and is located northeast of Venezuela. The larger island, Trinidad, is measured at 50 miles long and 45 miles wide. The highest elevation on this island is also 3,085 feet tall. Tobago, the smaller island, has an area of 116 square miles with elevations up to 1,800 feet.  While these islands are filled with many rare creatures that live here, it is mostly inhabited with birds and hummingbirds. With a total area of 5,128 sq km, these countries both live under a parliamentary democracy government which has its headquarters in its capital, Port of Spain. This country is currently under Her Excellency Christine Kangaloo. She was inaugurated in March and is the commander in chief of the Armed forces.  The dry season usually happens from January to mid-May. And the rainy season, which usually has 2-3 times more precipitation than the dry season, is only in september. Both countries are made up of plains with some hills and low mountains and have one of the largest deposits of Asphalt in the world. Trinidad and Tobago are the home of the Moruga Scorpion which is consistently ranked as one of the spiciest peppers. There are many places you can go just to explore such as the Asa Wright Nature Centre, the Nariva Swamp, and the Aripo Savannas. Goat racing is also a well known sport there and people can go to their stadium and goat race with your friends!
